1. Understanding the Significance

 Arunachalesvara Temple is a Hindu Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, It is located at the base of the Arunachala   Hill in the town of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, India.

The Temple considered one of the five elements (Pancha Bhoota) representing fire (Agni) and is believed to be a symbol of   divine presence.

The ideal time to visit Arunachalesvara Temple is between November and March when the weather is cooler and pleasant.      During the summer months, the temperatures can be quite high, makes less comfortable. Additionally Consider  visiting   during the full moon days, especially during the Karthigai Deepam festival, which is a grand celebration and attracts     thousands of devotees.

By Air

The nearest airport is in Chennai, about 185 kilometers from Tiruvannamalai. From Chennai, you can take a train, bus, or   hire a taxi to reach Tiruvannamalai.

By Train

Tiruvannamalai has a railway station connected to major cities in Tamil Nadu. Trains from Chennai, Bangalore, and other   major cities frequently stop here. From Hyderabad, mainly there are less number of trains which are Madurai Special   Fare(09520) running on wednesday & (07191) running on Monday, Nagercoil Weekly Special Fare(07435)   running on Friday, Velankanni Special Fare(07127) running on Saturday. If you wish to travel by train be planned   before and book tickets accordingly.

 By Road

Tiruvannamalai is well-connected by road, with several buses running from major cities like Chennai, Bangalore, and   Hyderabad. You can also hire a taxi or drive yourself if you prefer more flexibility. The distance to Arunachalesvara   Temple from Hyderabad is around 730kms. You can find buses from Hyderabad from major Private travels which ranges   from Rs.1,200. You can also find buses from Tirupati, local buses runs from time to time for every one hour. There will be a   AC bus(APSRTC Indra) running at 6:30 in the morning daily.The distance to Arunachalesvara Temple from Tirupati is   around 200kms.

Tiruvannamalai offers a range of accommodation options, from budget guesthouses to more luxurious stays. Many   accommodations are situated close to the temple for convenience. As for dining, you can find a variety of eateries serving   traditional South Indian cuisine as well as other options.  Giri Pradakshana

Devotees walk around the hill, a distance of approximately 14 kilometers, in a clockwise direction and that offers numerous   benefits for both the body and soul. The journey around Arunachala Hill is more than just a physical walk, it’s a path to inner   peace, divine connection, and personal transformation.

 

 Worship Lord Shiva

After the completion of giri pradakshana, the next step involve returning to the main temple at the base of the hill, offering   prayers and performing darshanam of Lord Shiva.

Walking around Arunachala Hill felt like a journey toward inner calm and   understanding. When I stood before the deity, I felt connected to the divine, and my heart was filled with thankfulness.This   visit strengthened my faith and left me feeling content, spiritually refreshed, and at peace.
